THE GRAND BAZAAR OF EVOLUTION

Bilingual Open-Air Exhibition

Do you know that diversity is not the result of competition alone but also of cooperation, mutual benefits and complex relationships between species? The Grand Bazaar of Evolution invites us to question the impact ours had on all others, but also to marvel at the extraordinary diversity of the Living and its history. It certainly has not been a long, gently flowing river... A stroll in Geneva botanical gardens, from the lake to the pool of the Winter Garden, helps us learn about the striking events of Life’s evolution on our planet and understand the mechanisms of biodiversity thanks to bilingual and interactive exhibition displays.

AN EVENING WITH BEETHOVEN

Online concert

As Victoria Hall had to postpone or cancel most of the events of its programme, this concert has been “heroically” scheduled by the OSR nonetheless and will be available online for 30 days (streaming). For his first invitation to the OSR, Maestro Myung-Whun Chung will share the stage with soloists Bogdan Zvoristeanu and Léonard Frey-Maibach in Beethoven's Triple Concerto. The German composer’s masterpiece 'Eroica' Symphony will complete the evening.

More and more concerts will fortunately be taking place live now that the sanitary situation is improving.

The MEG within baby’s reach

Musical awakening workshops

MEG and the specialised music school Espace musical invite us to discover the permanent exhibition with our babies and toddlers aged 0 to 2 years. While we learn more about a selection of objects from the collections, our baby will have the opportunity to explore the world of sound thanks to instruments from the four corners of the world adapted to very small hands.

Debussy’s Pelléas & Mélisande

Opera online, sung in French with English subtitles

The legendary performance artist Marina Abramovic created a perfect synergy of the arts with choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet. This otherworldly lyrical drama leads us into Debussy’s impressionistic music through a visionary cosmic dream.

Masks and Theater

Theater rare texts/manuscripts and masks

The Masks and Theatre exhibition unveils the theatrical treasures of the Martin Bodmer Foundation, from Greek Antiquity right up to the 20th century, and juxtaposes them with Werner Strub’s masks. More specifically, the exhibition explores the relationship between theatrical texts - papyri, parchments, incunabula, rare and prestigious printed editions, autograph manuscripts, etc. - and, on the other hand, a homogeneous collection of masks, a selection of those that Werner Strub (1935-2012) produced during his career.

Tea with Atalante

Book your tête-à-tête at the Rath Museum

Do you want to treat yourself and one of your friends to a unique and private cultural experience? Book your very own tête-à-tête with tea for two and learn about this mid 19th century mythological heroine. Although influenced by the models of classical antiquity, James Pradier was fascinated by the nude. Moving away from an idealised vision, he offers us to share an intimate moment with this very tangible, real beauty.
