A masquerade
A Verdi melodrama to make you swoon
To close the 2018/19 season, the Grand Théâtre de Genève presents Verdi’s melodrama Un Ballo in Maschera. Inspired by the assassination of Gustave III, King of Sweden, at a masked ball in 1792, Verdi’s work was endlessly censored and rewritten before its 1859 debut at the Teatro Apollo in Rome. Give into the passion and drama as you experience Verdi at his best! The show is subtitled in French and English, and tickets range from CHF 15 to CHF 289.

The art of constant change
Metamorphoses at the MAH
Still riding the Antiquity wave they started earlier this year, the Musée d’art et d’histoire presents Métamorphoses, an exhibition based on Ovid's poem of the same name. The museum’s fine art collections are displayed in alignment with Ovid’s best-known work, clearly showing how it has permeated Western culture and iconography.
